Tai Woffinden, the newly crowned World Speedway Champion will be at the Jordan Road Surfacing Stadium for a promotional photo shoot on Saturday 26th October at 12.00 noon.
Tai, who rides for the Wolverhampton Wolves, battled against injury to win the title and his achievement marked the first occasion that a British rider has scaled such heights since Mark Loram won the title thirteen years ago. The Stadium will be open for anyone wishing to see the event so why not pop into the bar for a lunch-time drink to catch up with all the speedway news.
The teams for the Four Team Tournament later in the day have now been finalised and it will be the last chance to watch a speedway meeting at Leicester this season. The line-up includes a blend of experience, some familiar faces and a dash of stars in the making. Team GB World Cup member Ben Barker will lead the League Select side along with the Pride of the Midlands Champion, Richard Lawson. Richie Worrall, winner of the Freestyle Show at Leicester, forms a twin brother spearhead with Steve for King’s Lynn and representing Sheffield are the Compton brothers, Andre and Benji along with Josh Auty who helped Birmingham to a place in the final of the Elite League play-offs. Leicester are served by Kevin Doolan and Jan Graversen and the side is completed by Chris Widman and Tom Perry, the pair fresh from helping the Isle of Wight reach the Cup Final after their well- deserved win at Mildenhall last night.
